Aber®Lasting

Aber Lasting is the first Caucasian and white clover hybrid to be developed anywhere that offers drought tolerant rhizomatous root characteristics as well as the nutritive and N-fixing benefits of white clover. Developed through conventional crossing techniques, AberLasting is a small leaved white clover that’s proven to be drought tolerant and persistent, even in clover root weevil areas, and therefore is ideal for long term grazing. Further good news for farmers is that medium and large leaved Aber clover-caucasian hybrids are in the Aber pipeline to benefit a variety of pastoral farm systems. Aber clovers are bred for stress tolerance, grazing tolerance, pest and disease resistance and are fully compatible with AberHSG ryegrass cultivars.

• Rhizomatous characteristics in roots growing larger and deeper than typical clover stolons (runners)

• It is suitable for use in all grazing systems and is particularly well suited to permanent pasture where water can be limited

• Developed at IBERS to be more drought-tolerant and persistent

• The first variety from the IBERS white clover breeding programme to incorporate traits introduced from Caucasian clover, a closely related and highly drought tolerant species.

• AberLasting was developed by conventional crossing techniques and has all the characteristics of a small leaf white clover, but with the drought-tolerance of Caucasian clover.
